I had written down a track name of "Blow the Leaves Away" to be included on a new EP, but could not find any lyrics or demos associated with it. After a few months scratching my head, I remembered that I had seen the wind blowing leaves right back to where someone was blowing them away, and I had thought it funny how much we struggle to only be humbled by the power of nature. So I gathered up some old lyrics that related to the concept and started writing this song; but I was forcing it too much. Eventually I settled on a melody that I didn't think sounded too forced and started recording. The intention was the have it in three sections, but I had already pushed the first section out of me and didn't want to continue songwriting like that; so I improvised the other sections during the recording process. The combined sound of a pressured melody along with a half-assed improvisation is perfect for what the song is trying to express. I hope you fall in love and simultaneously hate this song. Remember, all your troubles will be in vain anyway; surrender to the wind.
